It is with great sadness that we inform you of the falling asleep of Katherine M. Panagos. Kathy served in the choir for 73 years as Organist, Junior Choir Director and Choir Member. In 2005, she was awarded the Patriarch Athenagoras Medallion for Distinguished Service for the Metropolis of New Jersey. She will always be remembered for her gentle manner and ever-present smile.
Funeral services were held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bethesda, MD and local choir members were invited to participate. The choir was conducted by Paul Mavromihalis, choir director at St. George.

On Monday, April 7, 2014, Katherine Mathas Panagos, of Gaithersburg, MD. Beloved wife of 60 years to Victor A. Panagos; mother of Maria Panagos Carr and Andrew and Thomas Panagos; grandmother of six; sister of Constantine and the late Chrysoula and Efthimios Mathas; sister-in-law of Martha Poulos. Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 E. Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will held at the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, 7701 Bradley Boulevard, Bethesda, Maryland 20817 on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th Street, 8th Floor, New York City, NY 10022.
