Two Virtual Church Music Institutes
The EFGOCM and the National Forum together offer these Virtual Church Music Institutes (VCMIs) for our choir members and directors, church educators, psaltes, and all other interested participants. Entitled Singing With and For Spiritual Vitality and Coming Back Strong in Voice and Spirit, the VCMIs each include six one-hour sessions led by composer and conductor Christopher Kypros of Annunciation Cathedral in Norfolk, VA. Additional presenters include Dr. Miriam Kotsonis and Ryan J. Kiel, both members of the EFGOCM Board. Many other Board members provided significant assistance. Originally produced in Fall 2020 and Winter 2021, the VCMIs offered an opportunity for our choir members to continue singing and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their focus is on vocal and spiritual strength, building resilience and skills with lasting applicability.
These Virtual CMI's are co-sponsored and financially supported by the EFGOCM and the National Forum of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians.
Singing With and For Spiritual Vitality
Christopher Kypros uses hymns from our Liturgy to help us develop our vocal skills and to explore ways that we can grow spiritually through our music. Miriam Kotsonis also shares historical and theological information on each hymn.
